CHARACTERIZING COGNITIVE PERFORMANCE DURING SURFACE EVA (IAASS), June 4, 2026, virtual, 2:00 pm ET

The International Association for the Advancement of Space Safety (IAASS) will hold a webinar on June 4, 2026 from 2:00-3:30 pm ET on “Characterizing Cognitive Performance During Surface EVA.”

More information and registration instructions are on the event’s website, which says:

Extravehicular activity (EVA) is one of the most dangerous and
cognitively demanding tasks that astronauts can execute, and the
cognitive demands associated with future partial gravity EVAs on the
Moon and Mars are expected to be higher compared to microgravity
EVAs currently conducted from the International Space Station (ISS).
High cognitive workload presents an important risk to crew safety
during surface exploration EVA. This webinar will describe current
efforts at NASA to characterize cognitive workload and performance
during EVA, with a focus on recent research results using an extended
reality exploration surface analog environment.
