The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation will hold a luncheon and panel discussion on August 18, 2023 from 12:00-1:30 pm ET as part of its Innovators Week & Gala at the Hilton Orlando, Orlando, FL.
The luncheon and panel celebrate the 40th anniversary of American women in space. Sally Ride became the first American woman in space on June 18, 1983.

(The first woman in space was the Soviet Union’s Valentina Tereshkova in 1963. No other woman flew in space again until Soviet cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya on August 19, 1982, four months after NASA announced that Ride would be flying the next year.)
