APOLLO 13 ASTRONAUT FRED HAISE SPEAKS AT RICE UNIV, Sept 12, 2017, Houston TX, 8:00 pm CT

UPDATE, September 8:  The location for this event has changed.  It now will be held in Stude Hall of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice.

Original Entry:  Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise will discuss the history of the U.S. human spaceflight program and the “harrowing” story of the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission at Rice University on September 12, 2017 at 8:00 pm Central Time (9:00 pm Eastern).  The event will take place in the BioScience Research Collaborative Auditorium at the university.  Seating is limited.

The talk is part of the Rice University President’s Lecture Series and is in commemoration of the 55th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s 1962 speech at Rice where he said “we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”

The speech will be followed by a brief conversation on the future of the space program by Haise, Johnson Space Center director and former astronaut Ellen Ochoa, and David Alexander, Director of the Rice Space Institute.
