ARECIBO OBSERVATORY OPTIONS WORKSHOP OPENING SESSION (NSF), Apr 2, 2021, virtual, 12:00-2:00 pm ET

The National Science Foundation (NSF), which funds the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, will hold a workshop primarily in June 2021 to discuss options for replacing the 305-meter dish that collapsed last year.

The workshop will be the equivalent of three days, but due to the pandemic will be held virtually over a series of short sessions throughout the month of June.

NSF will kick things off on April 2, 2021 with an update on the situation are Arecibo and to review goals of the workshop.

More information, including a registration link, is on the NSF’s website.  It says “This workshop is aimed at individuals or teams who have an interest in guiding and developing the future science and education prospects of the Arecibo Observatory.”
