ARIANE 5 RETURN-TO-FLIGHT, July 30, 2021, French Guiana, 5:00 pm ET

European launch services provider Arianespace has scheduled the launch of an Ariane 5 rocket from the Guiana Space Center at Kourou, French Guiana for July 30, 2021. The 90-minute launch window opens at 21:00 UTC (5:00 pm EDT).

This is the first flight of an Ariane 5 in almost a year and will take two communications satellites, Star One D2 (for Embratel) and EUTELSAT QUANTUM (for Eutelsat). The last Ariane 5 launch was on August 15, 2020. According to press reports, Arianespace noticed unusual vibrations during fairing separation on that and the previous launch and has been working with the fairing manufacturer, Ruag Space in Swizerland, to resolve the issues.

To follow the launch live, go to arianespace.com or watch the Arianespace YouTube channel at youtube.com/Arianespace (audio feed in English starting around T-30 minutes).
