TIME CHANGE, NOW POST *SCRUB* PRESS CONF
ARTEMIS I SECOND TRY POST-SCRUB BFG, Sept 3, 2022, KSC, ~4:00 pm ET
Update, September 3: The launch was scrubbed. A post-scrub press conference will take place about 4:00 pm ET.
The following individuals are confirmed to participate in the news briefing at this time, with additional participants to be determined:
- NASA Administrator Bill Nelson
- Jim Free, associate administrator for Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
- Mike Sarafin, Artemis mission manager, NASA Headquarters
Original Entry: NASA will hold a post-launch media briefing on September 3, 2022 at 6:00 pm ET following the schedule launch of Artemis I at 2:17 pm ET. It will air on NASA TV, NASA Live and the NASA app.
The Artemis I uncrewed test flight of the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft scrubbed on its first attempt on August 29. They will try again on September 3.
Two pre-launch briefings are scheduled on September 1 and 2. See our separate entries for those.
Participants in the September 3 post-launch briefing are:
- Bill Nelson, NASA administrator
- Mike Sarafin, Artemis mission manager, NASA Headquarters
- Mike Bolger, Exploration Ground Systems Program manager, Kennedy Space Center
- Howard Hu, Orion Program manager, NASA’s Johnson Space Center
- John Honeycutt, Space Launch System Program manager, Marshall Space Flight Center
- Emily Nelson, chief flight director, Johnson Space Center
NASA also will provide coverage of Orion’s first outbound trajetory burn o the way to the Moon at 9:45 pm ET, and Orion’s first views of Earth at 10:15 pm ET.
Times are subject to change depending on when the rocket lifts off within its two-hour launch window.
