Asteroid Day Events, June 2017, worldwide

June 30 is Asteroid Day, designated by the United Nations as a global day of education to raise awareness about asteroids, including the threat they pose to Earth.

This year, organizers will host a 24-hour broadcast about space and the role of asteroids in our solar system that will be broadcast on the Asteroid Day website and via a dedicated SES satellite network.  The Government of Luxembourg is one of the sponsors of the event.  SES is headquartered in Luxenbourg and the government is one of the owners.  The day-long event is hosted by astrophysicist Brian Cox, who is also the lead guitarist of Queen.  It is the “first-ever 24 hour live broadcast from the new Broadcasting Center Europe at RTL City, Luxembourg.”

Details are on the Asteroid Day website.
