NEW INFO

BOEING STARLINER ORBITAL FLIGHT TEST (OFT) LANDING, Dec 22, 2019, White Sands, NM, 7:57 am ET

(NASA TV BEGINS 6:45 am ET)

Update, December 21:  Boeing and NASA have decided to land Starliner at White Sands tomorrow, December 22.  Landing is set for 7:57 am ET (5:57 am local time in New Mexico).  NASA  TV coverage begins at 6:45 am ET.  The deorbit burn is at 7:23 am ET.  Another opportunity is available about 8 hours later at 3:48 pm ET.

Update, December 20:  All did NOT go according to plan.  Although the launch itself appeared flawless, a problem with the Mission Elapsed Timer on Starliner caused its engines to burn too much propellant reaching orbit after it separated from the Atlas V rocket.  The automated spacecraft is in a stable, if incorrect, orbit.  The TENTATIVE plan is to return it to Earth on Sunday, December 22, landing at its primary landing site, White Sands Missile Range, NM.  Stay tuned for more details.

Original Entry: If all goes according to plan, Boeing’s uncrewed Orbital Flight Test (OFT) of its CST-100 Starliner spacecraft will land at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico on December 28, 2019 at 5:47 am ET.  It will be broadcast on NASA TV.
