UPDATE, Aug 28: President Trump’s schedule for August 29 shows that it is at 4:00 pm ET at the White House and he will be there.  Hopefully it will be webcast on the White House Live website and/or C-SPAN.

And according to Vice President Pence’s schedule, it will be followed by “flag unfurling ceremony.”

Original entry: Vice President Pence and Gen. Joseph Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at the August 20, 2019 National Space Council meeting that U.S. Space Command (USSPACECOM) will be “stood up” on August 29, 2019 at a ceremony over which Pence will preside.

Gen. John (Jay) Raymond will be the Commander of USSPACECOM in addition to his duties as commander of Air Force Space Command.

The event will take place at the White House.

We will provide more details when they are publicly available.

Sandra Erwin of Space News reports that President Trump will also be there and that a second ceremony will take place on September 9 at Peterson Air Force Base, CO, the initial home of USSPACECOM.  A final location has not been decided yet.
