COLUMBUS DAY/INDIGENOUS PEOPLES’ DAY, Oct 13, 2025, Federal Holiday

October 13, 2025 is a U.S. Federal holiday.

The Office of Personnel Management refers to this as Columbus Day, honoring Christopher Columbus who is often cited as discovering the New World of the Americas in 1492.

Beginning in 2021, others began referring to this as Indigenous Peoples’ Day honoring the indigenous peoples — Native Americans — who already lived here, many of whom were killed or died of diseases brought by Europeans.
