CREW-1 RETURN TO EARTH PRESS CONF, May 2, 2021, JSC, 5:00 am ET

Update, April 30, 3:00 pm ET:  The new schedule is for the crew to undock tomorrow night and splashdown at 2:57 am ET Sunday morning.  This press conference then will take place at 5:00 am ET.  The participants are unchanged.

Update, April 30: Weather (high winds) continues to be a problem. Undocking will not occur today or splashdown and this press conference tomorrow.  NASA and SpaceX will meet later today to assess their options and set a new date.

Update April 26: Due to poor weather on Wednesday, Crew-1’s return has been postponed.  Undocking now is on Friday, April 30, and splashdown on Saturday, May 1.  This post-splashdown press conference is now on May 1 at 1:30 pm ET.

Participants are:

  • Steve Stich, manager, Commercial Crew Program, Kennedy Space Center
  • Joel Montalbano, manager, International Space Station, Johnson

  • Hiroshi Sasaki, vice president and director general, JAXA’s Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate

Original Entry: NASA and SpaceX will hold a press conference on April 28, 2021 at 2:30 pm ET from Johnson Space Center, TX following the splashdown of the Crew-1 Resilience spacecraft at 12:40 pm ET.

Participants in the press conference are:

  • Kenny Todd, deputy manager, International Space Station, Johnson

  • Hiroshi Sasaki, vice president and director general, JAXA’s Human Spaceflight Technology Directorate

The return to Earth – and activities leading up to the return – will air live on NASA Television, the NASA App, and the agency’s website.
