ESA MEDIA BRIEFING ON UPCOMING TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE IN EUROPE, July 15, 2026, virtual, 5:00 am EDT (11:00 CEST)

ESA will hold virtual media briefings in English and Spanish on July 15, 2026 to discuss the upcoming total solar eclipse. The  path of totality  will cover Greenland, Iceland, Spain and Portugal on August 12, 2026. Other parts of Europe will experience a partial eclipse.  It is the first of three solar eclipses for Europe in 2026, 2027 and 2028.

The ESA press release doesn’t indicate if the briefings will air live on ESA TV.  ESA often posts replays of media briefings on X.

The English briefing is at 11:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST, which is 5:00 am EDT).

• Miho Janvier, Proba-3 Project Scientist, ESA

The Spanish briefing is at 12:15-13:15 CEST (6:15-7:15 am EDT).

Participants are:

• Rocío Guerra, Smile Mission Manager, ESA
• Pedro García Lario, Gaia Scientist and member of the Eclipse Advisory Committee, ESA

On August 12, ESA will cover the eclipse itself on ESA Web TV Two. starting at 19:30 CEST (1:30 pm EDT).
