February 18, 2019 is a U.S. Federal Holiday, “Washington’s Birthday.”   Most government offices and many businesses will be closed.

The Office of Personnel Management notes that the designation of this holiday as “Washington’s Birthday” is mandated by law “though other institutions such as state and local governments may use other names.”  Among those other names is Presidents’ Day.

George Washington’s birthday actually is February 22.
