Weather conditions have deteriorated at Wallops with rain and strong winds at LC-2, so we’re now targeting Tuesday Jan 24th for our first Electron mission from Virginia.

Update, January 11, 2023: Rocket Lab has set a new launch date of January 23. The launch window again is 6:00-8:00 pm ET.

Update, December 19: Rocket Lab concluded winds will still be a problem on December 19. They are assessing when the next attempt will be made.

Update, December 17, 9:30 pm ET: Rocket Lab confirms they are go for launch tomorrow, December 18, during a two-hour launch window 6:00-8:00 pm ET. It will be webcast on YouTube.

Update, December 15, 7:15 pm ET: Rocket Lab just tweeted that the launch has been delayed until no earlier than December 18 as NASA and the FAA continue to close out documentation. “Stay tuned for updates.”

Update, December 15, 6:00 pm ET: As of this moment, the launch is still on for tomorrow, December 16, between 6:00-8:00 pm ET, although Rocket Lab cautioned in a tweet earlier today to stay tuned for weather updates.

Update, December 11: The launch date has slipped to no earlier than December 15 because of “range/airspace availability” and Rocket Lab cautions that further delays due to weather are possible. The launch window remains 6:00-8:00 pm ET. From a Rocket Lab email this morning:
Update, December 10, 3:15 pm ET: Rocket Lab says the launch is still on for December 13. Its website says the launch is beteen 6:00-8:00 pm ET.
Original Entry: Rocket Lab will conduct its first launch from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, Wallops Island, VA, on December 13, 2020. The time was not announced. Earlier planned for December 9, it was postponed due to poor weather.

To date, Rocket Lab launches have been from the company’s Launch Complex 1 on New Zealand’s Mahia Peninsula. This is the inaugural launch at the new Launch Complex 2 in the United States.
The Electron rocket will place three Hawkeye 360 radio frequency geospatial analytics satellites into orbit.
