HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY, Apr 24, 2020, virtual

The beloved Hubble Space Telescope will celebrate its 30th anniversary of April 24, 2020.  Many events were scheduled to commemorate the occasion, but have been postponed or cancelled because of the coronavirus.

Hubble is a cooperative program between NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA).  The telescope is operated by the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, MD.  NASA, ESA, and STScI are issuing press releases and holding online events.

For example, anyone can go to this website and enter their birthdate (month and day) to see what Hubble was looking at on that day sometime over the past 30 years.   Another website has downloadable resources about Hubble.  Still another has “one captivating image per day from each of Hubble’s years in orbit…”

ESA will hold a series of livestream discussions about Hubble in different languages.
