INTERNATIONAL ASTRONAUTICAL CONGRESS (IAC) 2019, Oct 21-25, 2019, Washington, DC

Update, October 22: NASA TV also will broadcast part of “public day” on Friday, starting at 9:40 am ET for a talk by NASA Administrator Bridenstine and at 10:50 am ET, a panel of astronauts from the Association for Space Explorers.

Update, October 19:  According to the NASA TV schedule, it will broadcast several sessions.

  • Opening Ceremony (Monday, 9:00 am ET)
  • Heads of Agencies panel (Monday, 1:15 pm ET)
  • Long Term Sustainability of Space panel (Tuesday, 8:30 am ET)
  • Heads of Emerging Agencies panel (Wednesday, 8:30 am ET)
  • Europa Clipper session (Wednesday, 1:30 pm ET)
  • Late Breaking News session (Friday, 8:30 am ET)

The IAC also offers livestreaming of some of the sessions, but one must pay for that service.

Original Entry: The 2019 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) will be held in Washington, DC from October 21-25, 2019.  The theme is “Space: The Power of the Past, the Promise of the Future.”  Details are on the event’s website.

Among other things, it will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first human landing landing on Moon — Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969

The IAC conferences combine meetings of the —

  • International Astronautical Federation
  • International Academy of Astronautics
  • International Institute of Space Law (including the semi-final and finals of its annual Manfred Lachs Moot Court Competition)
