INTERNATIONAL MOON DAY, July 20, 2022, global

In December 2021, the United Nations declared July 20 as International Moon Day, a global annual observance of the first landing on the Moon by humans on July 20, 1969.

More information about the U.N. resolution and the intent of the Day is on the Moon Village Association’s website.

One specific event we’ve heard about is a free hybrid event at Imperial College London from 9:00 am -12:00 pm EDT. The agenda — with times in British Summer Time (not GMT) — and a registration link are posted on the event’s website and includes–

  • Bhava Lal, NASA Associate Administrator for Technology, Policy and Strategy,
  •  Jim Bridenstine, former NASA Administrator, and
  • Mike Gold, Redwire Executive Vice President for Civil Space & External Affairs (former NASA Associate Administrator for Space Policy and Partnerships)

Update, July 19: We’ve just learned of another, a Space Generation Advisory Council webinar “The Lunar Vision of the Space Generation: Ensuring Long-term Sustainability of the Moon through Policyfrom 4:00-6:00 pm CEST (10:00 am – 12:00 pm EDT).
