INTERNATIONAL MOON DAY, July 20, 2024, global (MVA event begins 2:00 am EDT)

In 2021, the United Nations General Assembly declared July 20 as International Moon Day in recognition of the first human landing on the Moon on July 20, 1969 when U.S. astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the Moon as part of the Apollo 11 mission.

Events are held globally. The International Moon Day website lists some of them.

The 2024 theme is “Illuminating the Shadows.”

The Moon Village Association (MVA) states that it filed the application with the U.N. to have July 20 designated International Moon Day and “leads the management of the celebration of the International Moon  Day.”

The MVA event in 2024 will be held on July 20 in Harbin, China beginning at 14:00 Beijing time (8:00 am Central European Summer Time/2:00 am Eastern Daylight Time/July 19, 11:00 pm Pacific Daylight Time).

The agenda is posted and the website says it will be livestreamed.
