Update, November 30: JAXA has tweeted more information on the landing sequence with more specific times. It shows landing on December 6 between 2:47 and 2:57 Japan Standard Time (JST), which will be December 5 between 12:47 pm and 12:57 pm Eastern Standard Time. (At the landing site, it will be December 6, 4:17-4:27 am ACDT).
The press briefing today (11/30) covered details on the capsule separation and re-entry. After TCM-3, the orbit of the spacecraft has been accurately estimated, so scheduled times are now more definite. Original Entry: The sample return capsule of JAXA’s Hayabusa2 asteroid sample return mission will land in Woomera, Australia on December 6, 2020 between 3:30-4:30 am Australian Central Daylight Time (GMT+10:30), which is December 6, 2:00-3:00 am Japan Standard Time, or December 5, 12:00-1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5). Note that the times in the first part of the tweet labeled “EDT” actually are EST.
