India’s lunar lander/rover is scheduled to land on the Moon on September 7, 2019 at 2:50 am Indian Standard Time (September 6, 5:20 pm Eastern Daylight Time).
Chandrayaan-2 consists of an orbiter plus a lander/rover. The complete spacecraft was launched on July 22 and will arrive in lunar orbit on August 20. The lander/rover will separate from the orbiter and land on the surface in the South Pole region.
The lander is named Vikram after the founder of India’s space program, Vikram Sarabhai. The 6-wheeled rover is named Praygan (wisdom in Sanskrit).
