LAUNCH OF NOAA’S GOES-U METEOROLOGICAL SATELLITE, June 25, 2024, KSC, 5:16 pm ET

NOAA’s GOES-U Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite is scheduled for launch on June 25, 2024 on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Kennedy Space Center, FL.
NASA acts as the procurement agent for NOAA’s satellites and associated launch services.
The 2-hour launch window opens at 5:16 pm ET. NASA and NOAA will have several pre-launch events on June 24 (see our separate Calendar entry) and provide launch coverage on June 25 beginning at 4:15 pm ET.
This is the fourth and final satellte in the “GOES-R” series and the first to carry a coronagraph to help detect space weather emanating from the Sun.
It will be renamed GOES-19 once in orbit. After it is checked out and operational, it will replace GOES-16 in the GOES-East position.
