LAUNCH OF PROGRESS MS-28 CARGO SPACECRAFT TO ISS, Aug 14, 2024, 11:20 pm EDT (Aug 15, 8:20 am local time at the launch site in Kazakhstan)

Update, August 12, 12:00 pm ET:  NASA just issued a press release confirming that it will provide live coverage of the launch beginning on August 14 at 11:00 pm ET, and of docking beginning on August 17 at 1:00 am ET, on  NASA+, NASA Television, the NASA appYouTube, and the agency’s website.

Original Entry: Russia will launch its next cargo spacecraft, Progress MS-28, to the International Space Station on August 15, 2024, local time at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. NASA refers to this as Progress 89.

The TASS announcement does not specify the time and, unusually, NASA does not list it on upcoming events that will be broadcast on NASA TV.

The website Next Spaceflight states the launch time is August 14, 11:20 pm EDT, which would be August 15, 8:20 am at Baikonur, with docking planned for 1:56 am EDT on August 17.

Moscow-based space enthusiast Katya Pavlushchenko posted on X that Roscosmos might not stream the launch on YouTube because the Russian government has blocked YouTube.
