NASA BRIEFINGS ON ICESAT-2, Aug 22, 2018, virtual, 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm ET

NASA will hold a media telecon on August 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm ET to discuss its upcoming ICESAT-2 launch.  The Ice, Cloud, and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESAT-2) will carry NASA’s most advanced laser altimeter to measure Earth’s changing ice. It is scheduled for launch on September 15, 2018.

Participants in the August 22 media telecon at 1:00 pm ET are:

  • Tom Wagner, cryosphere program scientist in the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) at NASA Headquarters
  • Richard Slonaker, ICESat-2 program executive in SMD
  • Doug McLennan, ICESat-2 project manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center
  • Donya Douglas-Bradshaw, Advanced Topographic Laser Altimeter System (ATLAS) instrument manager at Goddard
  • Tom Neumann, ICESat-2 deputy project scientist at Goddard

Following the media telecon, at 2:30 pm ET, a live televised discussion with social media followers and mission experts at Goddard will take place.  It will be carried on NASA Television, the agency’s website and NASA’s Facebook Live, PeriscopeTwitterTwitchYouTube, and UStream channels. Members of the public can ask questions with the hashtag #askNASA on Twitter or in the comment section of the NASA Ice Facebook page.
