NASA ISS SPACEWALK 97 (2nd of 3), Aug 18, 2026, Earth orbit, coverage begins 7:00 am ET

Update: NASA has announced that NASA’s Anil Menon and ESA’s Sophie Adenot will perform this spacewalk starting at 8:35 am ET.  Coverage begins at 7:00 am ET on X, Discovery+, Amazon Prime, YouTube, NASA+.

ESA will also provide live coverage on ESA WebTV and ESA’s YouTube channel.

Update, August 9: NASA has changed the date for the second spacewalk from August 13 to August 18 as they troubleshoot a sensor that malfunctioned on one of the spacesuits during the first spacewalk on August 6. As of this morning, the crew members who will conduct the spacewalk have not been announced, nor the time.

Original Entry: NASA astronauts will conduct three spacewalks in August 2026, numbers 96, 97, and 98.  NASA’s press release provides information about what the astronauts will do.

As of July 31, NASA has officially announced the spacewalk crew members only for spacewalk 96 (Jessica Meir and Anil Menon), but during a NASA briefing on July 30, Jessica Meir and ESA’s Sophie Adenot were identified in a video as the crew members for spacewalk 98.

Information as of July 31 is:

• Spacewalk 96: August 6, Jessica Meir and Anil Menon, beginning at 8: 35 am ET.  NASA’s live coverage begins at 7:00 am ET on  Amazon Prime, X , YouTube, NASA+
• Spacewalk 97: August 13, further information TBA
• Spacewalk 98: August 25, further information TBA
