NASA LUNAR DELIVERY READINESS TELECON FOR ASTROBOTIC’S PEREGRINE MISSION, Jan 5, 2024, 3:00 pm ET, virtual

NASA will hold a “lunar delivery readiness” media telecon in advance of the launch of Astrobotic’s Peregrine lunar lander, which is part of the NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program.  Peregrine will deliver science payloads to the lunar surface for NASA as well as payloads for non-NASA customers. A full list is on Astrobotic’s website.  The launch is scheduled on January 8, 2024 on the first flight of the United Launch Alliance’s (ULA’s) Vulcan rocket, which it designates “Cert-1” — the first “certification” flight for future DOD launches.

The lunar delivery readiness telecon will take place on January 5, 2024 at 3:00 pm ET and audio will be livestreamed on https://www.nasa.gov/nasatv.  Participants are:

  • Joel Kearns, deputy associate administrator for Exploration, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
  • Ryan Watkins, program scientist, Exploration Science Strategy and Integration Office, NASA Headquarters
  • John Thornton, CEO, Astrobotic
  • Gary Wentz, vice president, Government and Commercial Programs, ULA
  • Arlena Moses, launch weather officer, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station’s 45th Weather Squadron
