NASA MEDIA TELECON ON SOYUZ MS-22 SITUATION, Dec 22, 2022, virtual, 11:00 am ET

(NASA Live)

Update, December 21:  The briefing tomorrow will be at 11:00 am ET. Live audio will air on NASA Live.

Participants:

  • Joel Montalbano, manager, International Space Station Program, NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston
  • Sergei Krikalev, executive director, Human Space Flight Programs, Roscosmos

Original Entry: NASA will hold a media briefing on December 22, 2022 to discuss the situation with Russia’s Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft docked to the International Space Station.

The spacecraft sprang a leak in an exterior coolant loop last week. NASA and its Russian counterpart, Roscosmos, are assessing the situation and its impact on crew rotation flights. Soyuz MS-22 brought two Russian cosmonauts and one NASA astronaut to the ISS and is supposed to return them to Earth in March, but the integrity of the spacecraft has to be assured before then. The spacecraft also serve as a lifeboat for them while they are onboard the ISS.

The time for this briefing and the participants are TBD as of December 20 at 5:00 pm ET.
