NASA MEDIA TELECON WITH UPDATE ON ARTEMIS I, June 24, 2022, virtual, 11:00 am ET

NASA will hold a media telecon on June 24, 2022 at 11:00 am ET to discuss next steps for the launch of Artemis I, the uncrewed test flight of the Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft, following the fourth Wet Dress Rehearsal (WDR) that took place on June 20.  The first three had to be scrubbed for a variety of reasons. The June 20 test got further, but did not meet all the objectives.

The briefing will air on NASA Live.

Participants are:

  • Tom Whitmeyer, deputy associate administrator for Common Exploration Systems Development, NASA Headquarters
  • Phil Weber, senior technical integration manager, Exploration Ground Systems Program, NASA Kennedy
  • John Blevins, chief engineer, Space Launch System Program, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center
  • Cliff Lanham, senior vehicle operations manager, Exploration Ground Systems Program, NASA Kennedy

A NASA spokesperson confirmed to SpacePolicyOnline.com today (June 23) that they have decided they do NOT need to do another WDR.  This telecon presumably will provide an update on when the rocket will roll back to the Vehicle Assembly Building for final launch preparations and which launch window they are targeting, most likely late August-early September.
