NASA NEWS CONF ON NEXT STEPS FOR ARTEMIS CAMPAIGN, Feb 27, 2026, KSC, 10:00 am ET

NASA will hold a news conference tomorrow, Friday, February 27, 2026, at 10:00 am ET to discuss next steps for the Artemis campaign to return humans to the Moon. It will air on NASA’s YouTube channel.

More information is in the NASA press release.

Participants are:

  • Administrator Jared Isaacman
  • Associate Administrator Amit Kshatriya
  • Lori Glaze, acting associate administrator for Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate

NASA was targeting the launch of Artemis II and its crew of four astronauts around the Moon for the first time since the Apollo era in March, but a helium flow problem with the Space Launch System’s upper stage required NASA to roll the rocket and spacecraft “stack” back to the Vehicle Assembly Building for repairs.  The stack arrived at the VAB around 8:00 pm ET last night (Wednesday, February 25).

At the same time, NASA’s Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP) released a report yesterday critical of the Artemis III mission, the next Artemis flight that is to land astronauts on the lunar surface for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972. ASAP “has formally recommended that NASA rebaseline and redistribute the level of risk associated with the Artemis III and follow-on missions.”
