Update, December 21: NASA has updated the list of participants:

- Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters in Washington
- Greg Robinson, Webb program director, NASA Headquarters
- Jérôme Rives, vice president, Ariane 5 Business Unit, Arianespace, Paris, France
- Amber Straughn, Webb deputy project scientist for communications, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland
Update, December 18: NASA has finally issued a press release stating that this virtual press briefing will take place on December 21 at 2:00 pm ET with the following participants:
- NASA Deputy Administrator Pam Melroy
- Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters in Washington
- Greg Robinson, Webb program director, NASA Headquarters
- Beatriz Romero, Webb project director for launch services, Arianespace in Paris
Update, December 15, 11:30 am ET: The NASA TV shedule no longer lists this briefing at all and NASA has not provided any other information. Yesterday the launch was delayed another two days, to December 24.
ESA will have its own pre-launch briefing tomorrow (December 16) at 10:00 am EST (1600 CET). Watch on ESA’s website.
Update, December 13, 6:00 pm ET: This is now listed on the NASA TV schedule for Thursday, December 16, at 11:00 am ET. No further information has been released by NASA at this time.
Update, December 11: The announcement of the December 15 pre-launch briefing was made in an October 20 press release when the launch date was December 18. The launch later slipped to December 22. The press release has not been updated as of December 11 to show a different date for this briefing, but the NASA TV schedule does not list the briefing at all.
We will update this posting if we get more information as to whether it will take take place on December 15 and at what time, which was not provided in the press release.
Original Entry: NASA will hold a pre-launch briefing on December 15, 2021 for the launch of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), scheduled for December 18, 2021. It is one of several briefings leading up to the launch of JWST. All media briefings will take place virtually and will livestream on NASA TV, the NASA app, and the agency’s website.
Further details, including the time, are pending as of October 20.
