NASA REVEALS NEW NAME FOR MARS 2020 ROVER, Mar 5, 2020, virtual, 1:30 and 3:30 pm ET


NASA will reveal the name it has chosen for the Mars 2020 rover scheduled to launch to Mars this summer on March 5, 2020.  NASA held a contest where students could submit names.

At 1:30 pm ET, NASA will announce the name at an event that will air live on NASA TV.

At 3:30 pm ET, NASA will hold a media teleconference that will air on NASA TV as well as NASA Live and NASA’s social media outlets:  FacebookUstreamYouTubeTwitter.

Participants include:

  • Thomas Zurbuchen
  • Lori Glaze, director of NASA’s Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters
  • Deanne Bell, founder and CEO of Future Engineers in Burbank, California
  • The student who submitted the winning name and essay
