NATIONAL SPACE COUNCIL MEETING, May 19, 2020, DC, 10:30 am ET

Update, May 16 (Saturday):  The White House issued a press release at 9:44 am ET today announcing that this 7th meeting of the National Space Council will take place on May 19 at 10:30 am ET.  It will take place at NASA HQ and will be livestreamed on NASA TV.  The agenda has not been released, but it is taking place just 8 days before the scheduled launch of the SpaceX Demo-2 mission, the first flight of astronauts to Earth orbit from American soil since the final space shuttle launch in 2011, a milestone event that is likely to be one focus of attention at the meeting.

Vice President Mike Pence to Convene Seventh Meeting of the National Space Council

WASHINGTON – The Seventh Meeting of the National Space Council will be held in Washington, D.C. on May 19th, 2020 at 10:30 AM EDT. The meeting, chaired by Vice President Mike Pence, will convene at the NASA Headquarters building. The meeting will be livestreamed here on NASA TV, and additional details will be forthcoming.

 

Update, March 21:  This meeting has been postponed.  An emailed statement issued at 5:00 pm ET today says:

Seventh Meeting of the National Space Council Postponed

WASHINGTON – The Seventh Meeting of the National Space Council, scheduled to take place on March 24th, 2020 at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C., has been postponed.  A new date for the meeting will be determined.

Dr. Scott Pace, Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Secretary of the National Space Council, released the following statement:

“The National Space Council and its members continue to work diligently to advance America’s goals in space and to build on our legacy as the world’s leading spacefaring nation.”

Dr. Pace continued:

“The Council’s daily work across civil, national security and commercial space sectors continues, and we will convene a full meeting of the Council at a later date.”

Original Entry: The White House National Space Council will meet on March 24, 2020 at the Eisenhower Office Building in Washington, DC.  The meeting originally was scheduled to take place at Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH, but was moved to DC because of the cornonavirus outbreak.

The meeting will be livestreamed.
