Event Navigation
Update, October 17: The Space Council meeting will be from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm ET at the National War College at Ft. McNair in Washington, DC. It will be livestreamed on the White House and NASA website.
Original Entry: Vice President Mike Pence tweeted on October 12 that the National Space Council will meet on October 23, 2018 at the National Defense University in Washington, DC. The main topic is progress in creating a Space Force as a sixth military department. Details, such as the time, have not been announced yet, but Pence is scheduled to speak at a Washington Post seminar that morning, so presumably it will be late morning or afternoon.
.@POTUS has rightly called for the creation of a 6th branch of the Armed Forces to advance US dominance in space. #SpaceForce is an idea whose time has come. On 10/23, the National Space Council will meet @NDU_EDU to discuss progress made & next steps to implement POTUS’ vision.
