OA-9 CYGNUS ARRIVES AT ISS, May 24, 2018, Earth orbit, 5:20 am ET (webcast)
Event Navigation
Orbital ATK’s ninth cargo mission to the International Space Station (ISS), OA-9, was successfully launched on May 21 and will arrive at the ISS on May 24.
The Cygnus capsule, the S.S. J.R. Thompson, will be grappled by ISS astronauts using Canadarm2 at about 5:20 am ET. NASA TV coverage begins at 3:45 am ET. It will be installed onto an ISS docking port later in the morning. NASA TV coverage of that procedure begins at 7:30 am ET.
Cygnus is delivering about 7,100 pounds (3,200 kilograms) of cargo. Once the new supplies are offloaded, it will be filled with trash.
It will remain attached to ISS for about seven weeks. After it departs, it will release six cubesats and then reenter the Earth’s atmosphere, a process during which it and the trash will be destroyed.
