POSSIBLE SENATE CONSIDERATION OF CLOTURE MOTION ON BRIDENSTINE NOMINATION, Apr 18, 2018, DC

The Senate *may* begin consideration of the nomination of Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Oklahoma) to be the next NASA Administrator on April 18, 2018.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell filed cloture on the nomination on Monday, April 16, which begins the process for floor action.  Wednesday, April 18, is the first day that a vote can be taken on cloture.  If the vote is affirmative, up to 30 hours of debate may take place.

The Senate Democratic website lists the possibility of a vote on the Bridenstine cloture motion around noon:

Noon on Wednesday—up to 3 roll call votes
1.      Passage of S.J.Res.57, a joint resolution providing for congressional disapproval of the CFPB auto lending rule
2.      Motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to S.140, WMAT Settlement Fund, with an amendment (Coast Guard Authorization)
–If cloture is not invoked on Coast Guard Authorization, then
3.      Cloture on Executive Calendar #609, James Bridenstine, of Oklahoma, to be Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration
