The Emerging Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee of the Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing on April 19, 2023 at 10:30 am ET in SR-232A Russell Senate Office Building.
The topic is “The Mission, Activities, Oversight, and Budget of the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office.”
That DOD/DNI office is the expanded and renamed organization that investigates reports of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAPs), often colloquially referred to as UFOs (Unidentified Fly Objects). More information about the office is in a DOD press release from July 2022. It says: “The mission of the AARO will be to synchronize efforts across the Department of Defense, and with other U.S. federal departments and agencies, to detect, identify and attribute objects of interest in, on or near military installations, operating areas, training areas, special use airspace and other areas of interest, and, as necessary, to mitigate any associated threats to safety of operations and national security. This includes anomalous, unidentified space, airborne, submerged and transmedium objects.”
The hearing has both open and closed sessions. The open session will be webcast on the committee’s website.
The witness is Sean Kirkpatrick, Director, All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office.
