SPACE FUTURES LIVE (ASU), Aug 24, 2023, Tempe, AZ, 1:30-5:00 pm PACIFIC Time

Arizona State University’s Interplanetary Initiative will hold a Space Futures Live event on August 24, 2023 at the Rob and Melani Walton Center for Planetary Health at university’s Tempe, AZ campus from 1:30-5:00 pm PACIFIC Time.

Although the title is Space Futures Live, the website does not indicate that a livestream will be avalable. It appears to be only an in-person event.

Participants are:

  • Phil Metzger, planetary physics: How can we ensure that space resources benefit all people on Earth, not just the privileged few?
  • Shannon Curry, space physics: What have we learned at Earth and what can we learn at Mars?
  • MJ Rubenstein, religion: Do human beings deserve another planet?
  • Christopher Johnson, space law: What space law innovations enable interplanetary humanity?
  • Hiro Ono, robotics: How far can we (humans and robots) go?
  • Jacques Arnould, ethics: Why would a nation state encourage the emergence of an interplanetary humanity?
  • Lisa Ruth Rand, history: How can lessons from the past help inform space futures?
