SPACE GENERATION FORUM 2.0 (IN SUPPORT OF UNISPACE+50), June 16-17, 2018, Vienna, Austria

The Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) will hold a Space Generation Forum 2.0 from June 16-17, 2018.  It is being held in conjunction with the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs’s UNISPACE+50 conference.  Both will take place in Vienna, Austria.

SGAC was created at the UNISPACE 3 conference in 1999.  UNISPACE+50 commemorates that conference and two prior UNISPACE conferences that took place in 1968 and 1982.

The Forum’s website cites the purpose of the forum as follows:

Aims:

• To bring together all the different SGAC generations to celebrate SGAC’s creation at UNISPACE III and to discuss how SGAC’s activities should continue to evolve considering the UNISPACE+50 recommendations and specific aspects related to the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS) and its subcommittees.
• To create a capacity building event that allows SGAC members to better understand UNOOSA, COPUOS, and international aspects of space from various perspectives
• Showcase SGAC’s roots and connection to the United Nations (in particular to the United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs and the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and its subcommittees)
• Create outcomes based on the 4 thematic pillars of UNISPACE+50 which paves the way toward Space 2030
• Present outcomes in the form of a conference room paper and technical presentation at UNISPACE+50
