On October 14, 2021, the European think tank Friends of Europe will hold the next in its “State of Europe” series.
The day-long hybrid event, “State of Europe–The Festival of Politics and Ideas: A New Renaissance,” includes two space-related sessions from 11:30-13:00 CEST (5:30 – 7:00 am EDT). The on-person venue is Egmont Palace in Brussels, Belgium, but the sessions are also online.
ESA astronaut Luca Parmitano will speak from 11:30-11:45 CEST (5:30-5:45 am EDT) on “A Journey Around the Earth, Our Common Starship.”
A panel on “The Race to Space” runs from 11:45-13:00 CEST (5:45-7:00 am EDT) with the following participants:
- Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA)
- Susmita Mohanty, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Earth2Orbit
- Masami Onoda, Director of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Washington
