Update, October 5: As part of the Day of Action tomorrow (October 6), The Planetary Society will have a press conference at the Capitol at 1:00 pm ET. It will take place on the East Front, House Triangle between Areas 10 and 11. The event will be livestreamed on the TPS website.
Speakers include:
- Bill Nye, CEO of The Planetary Society
- Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-MD-04) — Member, House Appropriations Committee, Commerce-Justice-Science Subcommittee (overseeing NASA, NOAA, NSF)
- Marcel Agüeros, President-elect, American Astronomical Society (AAS)
- Michael Brandon Jones, President, American Geophysical Union (AGU)
- Planetary Society members and coalition advocates
Original Entry: The Planetary Society and nearly a dozen partner organizations will hold “The Day of Action to Save NASA Science” from October 5-6, 2025 in Washington, DC.
October 5 (Sunday) is devoted to training; October 6 (Monday) is in-person meetings with congressional offices.

The Day of Action to Save NASA Science is a joint-event to facilitate meetings between individuals and their elected officials to push back against the draconian cuts proposed to NASA science in FY 2026.
The participating organizations are: American Astronomical Society, American Geophysical Union, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Association of American Universities, Explore Mars Inc., The Mars Society, Maryland Aerospace Alliance, National Space Society, The Planetary Society, Scientific Society for Astrobiology, and Universities Space Research Association.
