YURI’S NIGHT, Apr 12, 2022, global

Yuri’s Night is a global space celebration on April 12 every year, the anniversary of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin becoming the first human in space.  He made one orbit of the Earth on April 12, 1961.

Events take place in many locations on or around April 12.  The Yuri’s Night website is one place to find out where and when.

At least one organization decided to rename Yuri’s Night in 2022 because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but others reject the idea because the night honors the history of human spaceflight and it will always be true that Gagarin was the first man in space.
