Event Navigation
Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa, who goes by MZ, tweeted that he will make a “major announcement about space” on December 8, 2022 at about 12:00 pm Pacific Time (3:00 pm Eastern) on the one-year anniversary of his launch to the International Space Station.
Online meeting with Elon @elonmusk is done. I can make a major announcement about space around the noon of December 8, PST. It’s another new announcement on the anniversary of exactly one year since the day I went to ISS last year.

In 2018, Maezawa purchased the first crewed flight of SpaceX’s Starship (then called BFR) around the Moon, a project he calls Dear Moon. The launch was targeted for 2023 at the time. Starship has not yet flown to space, however, so a crewed flight to the Moon next year seems unlikely.
In March 2021, Maezawa invited people to apply to join him on the trip. Perhaps the announcement is related to that. If additional informaton becomes available, like whether it will be livestreamed and if so where, we’ll add it here.
