SENATE APPROPS CJS FY2019 APPROPS HEARING FOR DEPT OF COMMERCE, May 10, 2018, DC, 10:00 am ET (webcast)

The Commerce-Justice-Science subcommittee of the Senate Appropriations Committee will hold a hearing on the FY2019 budget request for the Department of Commerce on May 10, 2018 at 10:00 am ET in 192 Dirksen Senate Office Building.  The committee webcasts its hearings.

The scheduled witness is Wilbur Ross, Secretary of Commerce.

NOAA is part of the Department of Commerce, but the subcommittee typically holds a separate hearing on NOAA.  Space issues still may be discussed at this hearing, however, since the Department is being given increased responsibilities for regulating commercial space activities and Ross wants to move two NOAA offices (Office of Space Commerce and Office of Commercial Remote Sensing Regulatory Affairs) into his own office, which requires congressional approval.
