APOLLO PLUS 50 PANEL AT SCIENCE WRITERS CONFERENCE, Oct 15, 2018, DC, 10:50-11:50 am ET

The ScienceWriters 2018 conference will take place in Washington, DC from October 12-16, 2018.   On October 15, from 10:50-11:50 am ET, a panel discussion will take place on “Apollo Plus 50: The Past, Present, and Future of the Space Program.”

Speakers include:

  • Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison “Jack” Schmitt, the only scientist to walk on the Moon
  • Scott Pace, Executive Director, White House National Space Council
  • Valerie Neal, Curator, Space History Department, National Air & Space Museum

GeekWire’s Alan Boyle organized the session, which will take place in George Washington University’s Lisner Auditorium.

The 50th anniversary of the first human Moon landing, Apollo 11, is July 20, 2019.  Schmitt was on the final Apollo Moon landing, Apollo 17, in December 1972.  His moonwalking partner, Gene Cernan, passed away earlier this year.
