POSTPONED

BOEING OFT-2 STARLINER ISS HATCH OPENING AND CEREMONY, ?, Earth orbit

Update, August 13:  The launch has been postponed indefinitely.

Update, August 3, 10:35 am ET:  The August 3 launch was scrubbed. A new date for this event is pending.

Update, July 31:  The OFT-2 launch had to be postponed because of problems that occurred at the International Space Station during the docking of Russia’s Nauka module on July 29. The new OFT-2 launch date is August 3 at 1:20 pm ET.  If launch is on time, OFT-2 will dock at the ISS on August 4 at 1:37 pm ET and hatch opening will be the next day, August 5, at approximately 8:40 am ET with a welcome ceremony at 9:40 am ET.

The revised schedule is:

Thursday, Aug. 5

8:30 a.m. – NASA TV hatch opening coverage begins

8:40 a.m. – Hatch opening

9:40 a.m. (approximately) –Welcoming remarks

 

Original Entry: If launch goes as planned on July 30, and docking on July 31, astronauts aboard the International Space Station will open the hatch to Boeing’s uncrewed Starliner spacecraft on August 1.  According to NASA”s July 16, 2021 press release listing OFT-2 press events, this is the schedule for that day:

Sunday, Aug. 1

9:15 a.m. – NASA TV hatch opening and welcoming remarks coverage begins

9:35 a.m. (approximately) – Hatch opening and welcoming remarks about 10:35 a.m.
