LAUNCH OF THE NANCY GRACE ROMAN SPACE TELESCOPE, Aug 30, 2026, KSC, 7:26 am ET

Update, August 29:  The launch is still scheduled for tomorrow, August 30, but at the pre-launch briefing this morning the Space Force weather officer reported that the weather is iffy. There is a 50% “probability of violation” which means it’s 50% “no-go,” which means 50% “go.” On Monday and Tuesday, the weather improves to 70% “go” (a 30% probability of violation).

Update, August 24:  NASA’s new press release has the schedule for coverage of the launch.  These events will be livestreamed, but NASA hasn’t specified which of its several platforms will cover it. Check NASA Live for the links when they’re available.

Two pre-launch press briefings are on Saturday morning, August 29, at 9:00 am and 10:30 am ET. See our separate entry for those details.

On Sunday, August 30, launch coverage begins at 6:20 am ET for the launch at 7:26 am ET, followed by a post-launch news conference at 9:30 am ET.

Update, July 29:  NASA has refined the launch time to 7:26 am ET (on August 30).
