NASA BRIEFINGS ON JWST’S ARRIVAL AT FINAL DESTINATION, Jan 24, 2022, virtual, 3:00-5:00 pm ET

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) will arrive at its final destination, the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point-2 (SEL-2) after a million mile journey on January 24, 2022.  It was launched on December 25, 2021.

NASA will fire the spacecraft’s thrusters to enter orbit around SEL-2 at 2:00 pm ET.

At 3:00 pm ET, NASA will host a “Science Live” segment to discuss “What’s Next for the James Webb Space Telescope” and at 4:00 pm ET a media telecon.

The Science Live broadcast will air live online on the NASA Science Live website, as well as YouTubeFacebook, and Twitter. Audio of the teleconference will stream live on the agency’s website.

Instructions for how the public can submit questions for the 3:00 pm ET Science Live episode are in the NASA press release. Answering those questions will be:

  • Amber Straughn, deputy project scientist for Webb communications, NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland
  • Scarlin Hernandez, flight systems engineer, Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore
