NASA HISTORY OFFICE CELEBRATES 60TH ANNV OF ALAN SHEPARD’S FLIGHT, May 5, 2021, virtual, 11:00 am ET and 12:00 pm ET

The NASA History Office will host two events on May 5, 2021 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Alan Shepard becoming the first American in space.
At 11:00 am ET, it will hold a panel discussion about 60 years of human spaceflight with the following participants:
- Bill Barry, former head of the NASA History Office
- Teasel Muir-Harmony, curator of the Project Apollo collection at the National Air and Space Museum and author of “Apollo to the Moon: A History in 50 Objects”
- Margaret Weitekamp, Curator and Chair of the Space History Department at the National Air and Space Museum
- Kathy Lueders, NASA Associate Administrator for Human Exploration and Operations
That will be streamed on NASALive, Twitter, and Facebook.
At 12:00 pm ET, the History Office will host a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) with historians from NASA and the Air and Space Museum on r/history.
