NASA MEDIA TELECON ON NASA EXPERIMENTS ON INTUITIVE MACHINES’ IM-1, Jan 31, 2024, virtual, 3:30 pm ET

NASA will hold a media telecon on January 31, 2024 at 3:30 pm ET to discuss the NASA science and technology experiments that will be aboard Intuitive Machines’ first Nova-C lunar lander, scheduled to launch in mid-February 2024.

Audio will stream on https://www.nasa.gov/nasatv.

Participants are:

  • Joel Kearns, deputy associate administrator for exploration, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters
  • Debra Needham, program scientist, Exploration Science Strategy and Integration Office, NASA Headquarters
  • Chris Culbert, program manager, CLPS, NASA Johnson Space Center
  • Trent Martin, vice president, Space Systems, Intuitive Machines

Intuitive Machines is one of several companies participating in NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CPLS) program where NASA buys services from a commercial provider to put NASA payloads on the lunar surface through a Public-Private Partnership. The companies are expected to find non-NASA customers to close their business cases.  This is IM’s first launch and follows by a month the failure of Astrobotic’s attempt to land its Peregrine lander on the Moon.
