Intuitive Machines is one of several companies participating in NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CPLS) program where NASA buys services from a commercial provider to put NASA payloads on the lunar surface through a Public-Private Partnership. The companies are expected to find non-NASA customers to close their business cases. This is IM’s first launch and follows by a month the failure of Astrobotic’s attempt to land its Peregrine lander on the Moon.
