NASA MEDIA TELECON ON SCIENCE ON ASTROBOTIC’S FIRST CLPS MISSION TO THE MOON, Nov 29, 2023, virtual, 2:00 pm ET

NASA will hold a media telecon on November 29, 2023 at 2:00 pm ET to discuss NASA’s science experiments on the first flight of Astrobotic’s Peregrine lunar lander.  The launch is scheduled for December 24, 2023.

As part of NASA’s Artemis program, Astrobotic is one of several companies in NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. NASA purchases services to deliver NASA payloads to the surface of the Moon. The company is expected to find other customers to close the business case.

NASA will discuss its payloads on Peregrine at this media telecon. Participants are:

  • Joel Kearns, deputy associate administrator for Exploration, Science Mission Directorate, NASA Headquarters in Washington
  • Ryan Watkins, program scientist, Exploration Science Strategy and Integration Office, NASA Headquarters
  • Chris Culbert, program manager, CLPS, NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston
  • John Thornton, CEO, Astrobotic, Pittsburgh
