NASA NEWS CONF ON KILOPOWER EXPERIMENTS, May 2, 2018, Glenn Research Center, OH, 9:15 am ET (webcast)

NASA will hold a news conference at Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio, on May 2, 2018 at 9:15 am ET to discuss experiments on NASA’s new Kilopower nuclear reactor power system that took place from November 2017 to March 2018.  The tests were conducted at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS).  After the briefing, media will be able to tour several facilities at Glenn.

The briefing will be livestreamed on NASA’s website.

Participants in the briefing are:

  • James Reuter, acting associate administrator of NASA’s Space Technology Mission Directorate
  • Janet Kavandi, Glenn center director
  • Patrick Cahalane, principal deputy associate administrator for Safety, Infrastructure and Operations at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
  • Marc Gibson, Kilopower lead engineer at Glenn
  • Dave Poston, chief reactor designer at NNSA’s Los Alamos National Laboratory
